Introduction
Industrial painting is more than just a job; it’s a blend of art, science, and a bit of alchemy. As a painter at Pattison Signs in Orillia since April 2015, and Now at Norweld Ltd. I’ve learned to transform materials like aluminum, steel, plastics, and PVC into visually stunning pieces that stand the test of time.
A Typical Workday
My day usually starts early, with a review of the projects on hand. Each job presents unique challenges, from substrate preparation to achieving the perfect finish. Proficiency with tools like HVLP airmix guns and pressure-fed high-performance finishing bottles is crucial. For example, using my Kremlin gun, I can achieve consistent finishes that ensure efficient repairs in the future.
Challenges in the Field
One challenge is assessing and repairing dents and imperfections. Whether it’s a scratch on a sign or a more significant issue, I use body fillers, surfacers, and epoxies to restore surfaces to their original glory.
Conclusion
Each day as an industrial painter brings new lessons and experiences. The combination of technical skill and creative flair makes this role incredibly rewarding. I look forward to what tomorrow will bring!
